  1. Could you tell us a little about your career at HTG?

    I first started at HTG some fifteen years ago. At that time, I began working in the HR Department and I was responsible for handling the Office aspect. HTG was then much smaller: we generated a turnover of EUR 300 million (compared to EUR 1.4 billion in 2019) and the entire HR Department consisted of two colleagues. In my role, I handled all HR matters from A to Z and primarily worked on recruitment & selection. Over the years, in addition to Office HR, I also learned HR for Logistics. HTG has grown tremendously in these past 15 years, thanks to both acquisitions and autonomous growth. The HR Department grew along with the company, and my role has slowly changed over time.

  2. And what do you do now exactly?

    In my current position as HR Manager, I am responsible for the entire HR Department at HTG. The HR team must closely monitor how our staff policy is progressing. We now have six colleagues, each of them with their own specialization. We also supervize a number of trainees every semester. As manager, I make sure the whole operation runs smoothly and that we as team continue to make progress. It is also part of my job to keep the HR team together and make sure everyone is doing their work well and is happy with their range of tasks.

  3. What challenges do you face as an HR Manager?

    A satisfied employee and a satisfied employer make for the ideal combination, of course. At HTG, we work with a diverse group of employees and it is a fun challenge to create a fitting policy for everyone. We want to offer something that appeals to every target group. Our organization is also growing rapidly and constantly changing. The HR Department has to be able to handle this well and that is why we are always looking to innovate. We also have to stay up to date on new trends and figure out how to apply these in the organization while taking our company strategy into account. One example of this is our HTG People & Development program that is designed to apply to every employee in the organization. When you start working at HTG, we provide you with a tailor-made introduction program. We also offer various tracks for those people who are further along in their career, and these focus on (personal) development.

     

    In addition, due to the COVID-19 crisis, recruitment has been turned completely upside down and here too, it is important that we can offer a track that suits the latest trends and is still in line with the strategy of the organization. All in all, plenty of great challenges!

  4. Where did your interest in the field of HR come from?

    My interest in HR has continued to grow over the years. I am a social person, curious by nature and I like variation in my work. This is often the case at HR Departments, because you have contact with everyone at the company and a wide range of tasks to fulfil. This, in combination with the fast-growing, ambitious organization we are a part of means I have the ideal job, right?

  5. Are there any interesting projects on the agenda?

    Last year, the HR Department invested much time in our HTG People & Development program and this will continue to be our priority in the coming period. This program focuses on the progress of our employees and we provide colleagues from every layer of the organisation the tools they need to continue to develop. The program will be further developed and rolled out in the organization. Other projects worth mentioning include the design of our HR Analytics dashboard which enables us to utilize the available data even better and a research study into a new time and planning system. So, there is plenty of work ahead of us.
