Naomi de Leeuw

Controller
Every day is different because of the business we’re in. I really like it that HTG genuinely looks at how you, as a newcomer, can make a difference.
  1. Naomi, can you tell us more about your background?

I joined the Finance department as a Controller 6 months ago, in the Health & Beauty segment. Before I started this job at HTG, I studied Business Administration in Groningen. I did a 6-month internship in New York, which was amazing and very informative. After my studies, I immediately started my job at HTG – my first position was as Trainee so I could discover every aspect of the Finance department.

  2. What is a typical working day for you?

It’s very varied. The Health & Beauty segment has several sister companies. I process the turnover and margins for these companies, among other things. Also, I draw up and analyze weekly and monthly reports. These are eventually sent to the management team, so it is a task that requires responsibility. I also work on receivables analyes, stock analyses, and various questions from Procurement and Sales. The contact with my colleagues from Procurement and Sales is exactly what makes my day so diverse.

  3. What can HTG offer newcomers?

I haven’t been with HTG for very long, only since last September. What I’ve noticed is the young and dynamic company culture. Every day is different because of the business we’re in. I really like it that HTG genuinely looks at how you, as a newcomer, can make a difference. If you have a good plan, you can often start work on it almost straight away. Our own gym is definitely a bonus.

  4. What is the atmosphere at the department like?

In short: amazing! It’s a great team with helpful colleagues. Everyone rolls up their sleeves to get the work done. It’s hard work, but we also have a lot of fun. We have our own Friday afternoon drinks with the Finance department and sometimes we hit the town for an evening out. A great blend of work and fun!

  5. Do you have any thought about your future at HTG yet?

My focus will initially be on developing my role as a Business Controller. I really enjoy my contact with my commercial colleagues, so I would like to expand that to become a first point of contact for any questions they have related to Finance. In addition, I would like to become an indispensable advisor to management and the business for the realization of objectives. There are plenty of challenges in this area for me before I can call myself an expert. I like a challenge, so this is a perfect place for me!
